Fr. Andrew brought two logs of Acacia wood back from his recent trip to Africa. He explained that this was the same wood Moses used to make the ark of the covenant. The tablets of the Ten Commandments were placed into this gold covered box.

He compared the ark of the old covenant with Mary the Theotokos who was the living ark of the new covenant. This relationship is expressed in the feast of the Presentation of Mary to the temple which is celebrated on February 2nd.

A Venetian Carnivale

St. Luke Parish held a pre-lenten dinner this week entitled "A Venetian Carnivale". After a blessing by Father Andrew food was served. The dinner theme was Italian.

A contest was held to determine the best masks. Three prizes were awarded for the children and three for the adults. Here the contestants are lined up.

Here are two photos and messages from Father Andrew and Pat during their recent trip to Africa.

We are flying to Nairobi. There isn't much hear but Elephants Lions and buffalo. We are waiting for the plane to land.

We were visiting a Masai village the cultural part of the trip. All is going well. Weather is outstanding. We are at Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

This Sunday following Liturgy, St. Luke Parish honored all of its participants in scouting programs. After we sang "Many Years" for our scouts, various awards were handed out.

During coffee hour a cake was provided for our scouts.

Our scouts are active in the community. Here five teens from the Venturing Crew helped the church food team providing food for the PADS homeless program. The teens prepared a casserole, helped serve dinner, made lunches and distributed toiletry items to the guests.
