Wednesday February 23rd, 2005 - Prayer of the Week on Luke 18:10 -14.

Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy

O Lord help us to flee from the pride of the Pharisee and learn the humility of the Publican so we can plead for mercy. We are truly among the first of all sinners and are anticipating the opportunity that Lent gives us to overcome our pride and prepare for Your coming. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Bible text :I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for everyone that exalts himself shall be humbled; but he that humbles himself shall be exalted. Luke 18:14

Wednesday February 16th, 2005 - Prayer of the Week for a baptism on the Sunday of Zacchaeus.

Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy

O Lord we pray for the newly enlisted warrior of Jesus Christ. Grant that she will mature in the faith and Your light will shine brightly in her heart. May she be born again through our unworthy ministry. We pray for guidance so we can be an example to her and like Zacchaeus, climb the tree of faith and be made worthy of Your presence in our house. We pray in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit Amen.

Bible text :And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have defrauded of any man, I restore it fourfold. And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy

O Lord we pray for the newly departed servant Katherine. May she find eternal rest where the brightness of Your glory surrounds and illuminates her forever. Amen

Bible text :The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever. Rev. 21:22-25 & 22:4-5

Thursday February 3rd, 2005 - Prayer of the Week Matt 25:14-30.

Let us pray to the Lord. Lord have mercy

O Lord You are generous to us by granting that we live in this land of wealth. We are like the servant who received five talents. You told in your parable that you are strict about the way wealth is used. You expect us to be good managers. You want to give us more and obtain the joy of ruling over many things. Help us not to become wicked and lazy by becoming enslaved to worldly possessions. Grant that we will use what You have given us to Your glory and to the preaching of Your gospel to the ends of the earth. We pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit Amen.

Bible text :For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Matt: 25: 15 -16

Bible question - Was it fair for the master to take the one talent from the servant who had the least ability and give it the servant who had the most. How does this relate to you.
